Photo of the Day: View from Above

I haven’t had a chance to do much photography from the air (outside of commercial flights), and strictly speaking – the flight I took over the Fox / Franz Josef Glacier area wasn’t billed for photographers. However, it gave me an amazing chance to see just how great it must be to shoot from the air (I had a ton of fun, shooting through the (thankfully clean) windows of a small 6-passenger airplne. I’m still going through the shots – but I really enjoyed this one. The grey water coming down from the glaciers, mixed in with the surrounding gravel (which was all under water a week before, as the river flooded) gives it a monotone feel, even though the image is in color.

I’m sure I will end up sharing a few more from this trip. Enjoy!
